PGS Group is taking a major strategic step by acquiring Udo Bilstein. With this move PGS further expands its activities in Germany, Europe’s largest pallet market. The acquisition addresses growing customer demand for a stronger regional presence and aligns with PGS Group’s sustainability ambitions.

Growth and innovation are central

The acquisition of this local pallet manufacturer comes in response to growing customer demand for broader regional coverage. Amongst others, a greater local presence in North Rhine-Westphalia also benefits the group’s sustainability objective of being able to service customers within a 300 kilometres radius. Both locations, Dormagen and Giesdorf, will continue their activities and all 50 employees will remain on board. On top, the locations will also undergo expansions. The factory in Dormagen will double its capacity through the addition of two new production lines. PGS Group will also invest in dry storage. The capacity of the sawmill in Giesdorf is being increased to 50,000m3 of sawed wood per year.

“With this acquisition, we are taking an important step to better serve our German customers and achieve our ambitious growth objectives”, says Luc Grauwet, CEO of PGS Group. “The locations of Udo Bilstein not only provide strategic proximity to our customers but also reinforce our position as an innovative and sustainable partner in the region.

"We are delighted to have found a strong partner in PGS. The integration of Udo Bilstein into the PGS Group ensures that our locations will continue to grow and develop in the best interests of our customers and employees," says Udo Bilstein.

“With a high-end product offering and the intensification of certain services such as reverse logistics, Udo Bilstein enables us to further expand our portfolio with new customers on the German and European market.” says Gürsel Zorlu, Chief Growth Officer of PGS.

Future perspectives

With the production and repair facility in Dormagen near Düsseldorf and the sawmill in Giesdorf, PGS is strengthening its position in North Rhine-Westphalia. The group already had a foothold in Germany with PGS Ullu Paletten, located in the Karlsruhe region. With this heightened presence on the German market, PGS continues to place maximum focus on European growth, while servicing its customers from closer by and fostering innovation in the industry.

“This acquisition is not just a strategic expansion but also an opportunity to leverage synergies and support industrial transformation in the region. We continue to invest in innovation and sustainability, in keeping with our long-term objectives for 2030 and beyond”, Luc Grauwet concludes.
