Who are we ? PGS Group carries your business

We carry your business, both literally and figuratively speaking. For more than 30 years, we have been operating within the wood packaging industry and this has made us the experienced and important logistics partner that we are today.

PGS is short for Palettes Gestion Services, which originated in France. In 1993, PGS started business by recovering and selling second hand wooden pallets. We currently work with both new and second hand wooden pallets.

We are more than just wooden pallets What are we?

As well as pallets, we provide additional and eco-friendly services that are specially tailored to the specific needs of our customers.

PGS Group has 17 production sites for pallets, 26 facilities for reconditioning services, 4 sawmills and its own nail factory. We operate in 13 countries, including France, Belgium, Germany, Spain, The Netherlands, Portugal, Ukraine, Latvia, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, Morocco and the UK. We employ about 1.000 employees, spread over a total of more than 50 sites. Every year, we produce 25 million new pallets and recover 20 million recycled pallets.

Future plans

Founding of Palettes Gestion Services

Palettes Gestion Services was established in March 1993. Its president, Jean-Louis Louvel, and two partners, Michaël Modugno and Gilles Hermann began operating out of a small, 400 m2 workshop in Saint-Étienne du Rouvray, which provided pallet repairs.

Expanding our reach across France

PGS opened its second facility in Le Mans. Other reconditioning sites quickly followed, with the aim of establishing a network across all of France.

International expansion to Spain and Belgium

PGS began its international expansion by opening two facilities outside of France: one in Spain and another in Belgium.

PGS sets its sights on Morocco, Ukraine and Latvia

The Group continued its expansion beyond France by setting up a special international team. The PGS network extended into Morocco, Ukraine and Latvia.

First step into the largest pallet market in Europe

In 2021, PGS Group took its first step into Germany - the largest pallet market in Europe - by acquiring the production site PGS ULLU Paletten.

International expansion to the Netherlands and Portugal

With the acquisition of Den Doelder Pallets, PGS Group took its first step into the Netherlands in July 2023. In addition, the Group opened a new facility in Portugal.

PGS Group expands to Denmark and Austria

In 2024, PGS Group sets course for Denmark through the acquisition of two leading local companies. The Group also strengthens its presence in Central Europe with the opening of a new site in Amstetten, Austria.

First step into the British market

PGS Group expands into the United Kingdom with the opening of its first second-hand site.

PEFC

PEFC is the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes and a worldwide forest certification system. PEFC promotes forest management that is respectful of the environment, socially beneficial and economically responsible. The PEFC label can be found on our pallets and guarantees that the wood used in our products comes from sustainably managed forests.

ISPM15

ISPM15 is a heat treatment method, which ensures that no harmful organisms are present in solid wood used for the manufacture of timber products. The spread of these harmful organisms can be prevented by treating wooden packaging according to ISPM15. Please note that this heat treatment is not the same as a full pallet drying process.
