European Deforestation Regulation EUDR
The European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) aims to reduce deforestation and forest degradation linked to global supply chains. It covers several commodities, including wood, the main raw material used in PGS Group's packaging products.
Products within its scope must be deforestation-free, meaning they must not be linked to deforestation or forest degradation after 31 December 2020, and legally produced in accordance with the laws of their country of production.
The EUDR applies to relevant products listed in Annex I, including wooden pallets supplied as products in their own right. However, when wooden packaging is used to carry, protect or support other goods, the packaging itself falls outside its scope.
EUDR timeline and responsibilities
The EUDR entered into force on 29 June 2023. Its main obligations apply from 30 December 2026 for large and medium operators, as well as for operators already covered by the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR), including PGS Group.
The regulation assigns obligations according to a company's role and position in the supply chain. At PGS Group, we will act as a downstream operator or trader for the wooden products we supply within the EUDR's scope. Simplified requirements apply to these roles.
Prepared for compliance
At PGS, we are prepared and will meet the EUDR requirements applicable to our activities as from 30 december 2026, building on our existing due diligence procedures under the EUTR.
More specifically, we are further developing our internal procedures and systems to collect, track and retain the required information relating to our suppliers and customers. We also continue to monitor regulatory developments and adapt our processes accordingly, reinforcing our long-standing commitment to responsible sourcing.
