PGS Group, the European leader in wooden pallets and related services, is joining forces with Lecaro, an established Dutch player in the pallet market, through a joint venture. The partnership strengthens PGS Group’s presence in the Netherlands while creating new opportunities for Lecaro to support its continued growth.

The partnership brings together the complementary strengths of both companies. Lecaro will retain its identity, organisation and current management team, led by Alexander van Laak from its site in Haps.

More than 40 years of expertise and service

Founded in 1985, Lecaro is a family-owned company specialising in the supply of new and reconditioned pallets. With 2.4 million pallets sold annually and its own transport fleet, the company has built a strong reputation for close customer relationships, responsiveness and high-quality service. Its ISO 22000 and HACCP certifications are an additional asset in sectors where quality, food safety and traceability are essential.

Strengthening PGS Group’s network in the Netherlands

For PGS Group, the partnership marks another step in its development in the Netherlands, following the integration of Den Doelder Pallets and Hoekman Houtindustrie in 2023. It enables the Group to further strengthen its geographical coverage and offer Lecaro’s customers access to a broader range of services, including pooling and reverse logistics. Lecaro also has a direct presence in several West African countries, creating additional opportunities for PGS Group to further develop its activities beyond Europe.

A strategic location with further growth potential

Lecaro’s site in Haps, opened in 2025, is another important strategic asset. Located in the Laarakker business park along the A73 motorway, the fully covered 16,000 m² pallet terminal has a storage capacity of approximately 200,000 pallets. Its location provides excellent access to the major logistics hubs of Nijmegen/Arnhem, Venlo and Eindhoven, as well as direct connections to Germany’s Ruhr region and north-eastern Belgium.

Luc Grauwet, CEO of PGS Group, comments: “Lecaro and PGS share the same entrepreneurial culture, built around close customer relationships, responsiveness and high-quality service. This partnership enables us to further strengthen our presence in the Netherlands by joining forces with a well-established company, an experienced team and a strategically located site that will support our continued growth across Northern Europe.”

“Partnering with PGS gives us the opportunity to grow while staying true to who we are. Our family-business identity, our values and the way we work with our customers will remain unchanged,” says Alexander van Laak, Managing Director of Lecaro. “Our customers value our commitment, flexibility and willingness to go the extra mile. Those strengths will remain at the heart of Lecaro as we take this next step together with PGS.”
