Safe and Healthy Work Environment A shared responsibility

At PGS Group, our people are our most valuable assets. Health and safety are not obligations—they are commitments we make to our people, our partners, and our customers. This mindset is central to our company’s mission and embedded in everything we do. We work consistently to improve health and safety across all PGS locations and set the same expectations for our business partners.

In the video below, our QHSE Manager Philippe, shares some more insights into our health and safety strategy.

Industry risks

The wood manufacturing industry presents inherent risks, particularly due to the physical nature of work and use of machinery at our production and reconditioning sites. To protect our workforce and ensure operational resilience, we have made health and safety a key part of our corporate strategy.

Group-wide Commitment Zero Accidents

Year after year, we are committed to the aspirational goal of zero workplace accidents. This ambition drives our daily actions and decisions.

Every day, our teams work to maintain a safe and healthy work environment that protects employees from physical and health risks, both during and beyond their time of employment.

Our approach From Policy to Practice

Our strategy is based on proactive prevention and continuous improvement. To align with international best practices, we apply the ISO 45001 framework across all sites and progressively certify where relevant. We also follow the nine general principles outlined in our Health & Safety Charter—from risk avoidance and ergonomic adaptation to clear instruction and collective protection.

Concrete actions include:

  • Systematic risk assessments and mitigation,
  • Regular audits and reviews,
  • Employee training, toolbox and shopfloor meetings,
  • Open incident reporting systems,
  • Safety newsflashes after an incident occurs,
  • Ergonomic improvements through process automation.

These efforts involve all levels of the organization—from operational teams to executive management.

Measuring our Impact

We aspire to achieve zero accidents. Our initiatives contribute to improve our performance year after year toward this aspirational goal. To evaluate performance and adjust our approach where needed, we closely monitor key indicators (KPIs):

  • Number of work-related accidents;
  • Workplace accident frequency and severity;
  • Number of occupational and work-related illnesses.

These are complemented by leading KPIs tailored each year to evolving needs.

Golden Rules for Health and Safety

At PGS, safety starts with clarity. To support consistent and safe behavior in high-risk situations, we have defined 12 Golden Rules. These rules provide structured guidance for critical topics such as vehicle traffic, lifting operations, and safe use of equipment—risks commonly encountered in our daily activities.

Each rule sets out essential safety expectations, helping employees anticipate hazards and take the right actions, regardless of their role or location. This shared framework ensures everyone speaks the same safety language.

To embed these rules into daily practice, we organize dedicated toolbox meetings for each topic. These sessions give our employees the opportunity to explore real-life scenarios, ask questions, and strengthen their ability to respond effectively on the ground.

Dedicated Community Investment

We believe in social engagement and making a positive impact in the communities where we operate. Whereas we have always invested and engaged in our local communities, we wanted to keep track of our positive contributions in a more structural and efficient way. In line with this, we have established the PGS Community Investment Program. This program offers all of our employees the opportunity to support social projects and organizations.
