Story - Environment Offer Eco-responsible Products and Services
Learn more about our efforts on this strategic topic in the interview by Bart De Laender, our Chief Operational officer.
" The sustainability aspect in the production of new pallets comes from our commitment to optimal design, ensuring that each pallet uses an appropriate amount of wood - neither too much nor too little."
Sustainable Design
At PGS Group, responsible practices are embedded in every step of our manufacturing process, taking into consideration where, how, and with whom we collaborate. As a leading company in the wood packaging industry, we recognize the importance of reducing our environmental impact while providing load carrier solutions that meet the changing needs of our customers.
With this commitment in mind, we have launched the innovative project ‘Sustainable Design’. Through close collaboration with our customers, we strive to gain a comprehensive understanding of their needs. Based on this information, our technical sales team develops a personalized pallet design that prioritizes efficiency, usability, and ecology, all while ensuring the secure storage and transportation of goods. For instance, we take into account the stackability of the pallets, which can optimize logistics management and reduce the indirect costs.

Client Case
Our recent project with PVG LIQUIDS demonstrates how sustainable design can yield both economic and the environmental benefits. Since July 2022, we have successfully supplied over 38,000 pallets of this new design. By making adjustments to the initial pallet model, we managed to reduce the wood usage by over 4% compared to their previous design, resulting in a total saving of almost 100m³ of wood. In addition, the new pallet design has proven to be better suited for PVG LIQUIDS' operations and logistical storage, making it an overall better solution for their needs.
